About Me
Hello there! I’m Lisa Montgomery, and at 40 years old, I’m finally living the delicious, messy, joy-filled dream I never quite realized I had. I live just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, in a cozy home with an unruly herb garden and a kitchen that’s always busy with something bubbling or baking. It’s where I feel most like myself—and it’s the heart of RecipesFlash, the space I created to share everything I love about home cooking.
I spent nearly 20 years as a middle school teacher while raising two amazing kids. Back then, cooking was more about survival than joy—quick meals between work, homework, and sports practices. But as life slowed down and my kids needed me less, I found myself returning to the kitchen with fresh eyes.
It all started with a dusty old cookbook I picked up at a yard sale. The scribbled notes in the margins felt like a conversation with another home cook. I started experimenting—first with pot roasts and cinnamon rolls, then diving into curries, tagines, and homemade pasta. Sure, not everything was a success (my beet brownies were a colorful disaster), but each dish taught me something.
The kitchen became my creative playground. I learned to trust my instincts, embrace mistakes, and find joy in the process. That’s when RecipesFlash was born—a space to share my passion, lessons, and favorite recipes with other women who might be rediscovering their love for cooking too.
Cooking is personal. It’s memory, intuition, and love all stirred into one. Through RecipesFlash, I share cozy casseroles, vibrant salads, and everything in between, with tips to make cooking less stressful and more joyful. No perfection here—just encouragement to try, to taste, and to enjoy.
If you’ve ever felt unsure in the kitchen, I’m here to cheer you on. Start simple, make a mess, laugh at the flops, and savor the wins. Cooking has filled my life with flavor and connection, and I’m so glad you’re here to share it. Welcome to RecipesFlash.
